SwapSQL

About SwapSQL

SwapSQL exists because most online database converters are text-replacement scripts that fall apart on real-world dumps — broken quoting, mangled character sets, silently dropped constraints. We took a different approach.

How it actually works

Every conversion runs through real database engines. Your MySQL dump is loaded into an actual MySQL server, migrated table-by-table into an actual PostgreSQL server, and exported with the official tooling — so the file you download is, by construction, valid SQL. The reverse direction (PostgreSQL → MySQL, which most tools don't offer at all) uses our own engine that reads the live database catalog and is validated by importing the result into a real MySQL server before you ever download it.

Privacy first

Database dumps are sensitive. Conversions run in isolated, internet-blocked sandboxes with per-job databases and credentials. Uploads are deleted the moment a conversion finishes; results auto-delete after 24 hours. The full policy is on the privacy page.

Who runs this

SwapSQL is an independent, bootstrapped product — no VC, no growth hacks, just a tool that does one job properly. It launched in 2026 and is actively maintained: the conversion engines, type mappings and guides are updated continuously based on real conversions and real failure reports.
